5 Cruelty-Free and Vegan Beauty Brands to Try Now

What's up, friends! I know we're all a bunch of hopeless beauty junkies around here, so I thought that for today's post it might be fun to talk about something that's near and dear to my heart— the treatment of animals, specifically within the beauty industry. There's so much eye-opening information out there about animal testing that it's hard not to take note, and as a result, cosmetics companies are pushing to not only make their products cruelty-free, but vegan as well. And let me tell you, nothing makes me happier. I know firsthand how easy it is to buy a product and slather it all over your face with little thought to what went into making it or the implications of supporting those practices, so why not just become more conscious consumers already and use our purchasing power to do good rather than evil to our furry little friends? Exaaaactly. We got you, Thumper! So with that in mind, here are five amazing vegan, cruelty-free makeup brands that you can feel good about supporting.

5 Cruelty-Free and Vegan Beauty Brands to Try Now

This animal-loving brand is not only cruelty-free, but they've also expanded to include a lengthy list— like, we're talking 78 items lengthy— of vegan products to their roster. Heck, even the bristles of their brushes are free from any animal bi-products; instead, they're made of teddy bear hair and daaamn are they soft. Some notable vegan favourites from this brand include Better Than Sex MascaraMilk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer, and Hangover Primer.

This cult-favourite beauty brand is 100% vegan in addition to being cruelty-free, and is certified by both PETA and The Leaping Bunny Program. The latter has created the Corporate Standard of Compassion For Animals (otherwise known as "The Standard"), a strict background testing that includes third party manufacturers to assure that no products are tested on animals whatsoever... so you know Lime Crime is the real deal. Oh, and as if that weren't enough, their HQ is made up of all kinds of animal-lovers who are constantly adopting and fostering pets— they quite literally walk the walk. Gotta love a company that has an affinity for animals so deeply ingrained into their corporate culture. Also of note: their wide range of lip colours... just saying. If you're new to the brand, here are seven things to buy during their 60% off sale!

Another cruelty-free company, these guys have an impressive selection of vegan products to choose from as well that lack any commonly-used animal bi-products, such as beeswax, lanolin, whey or carmine. Some of my personal favourites from the brand include their Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation, Maracuja Oil, and First Step Prep Moisture Reset Cream.

This affordable favourite is a PETA-certified, cruelty-free brand that you can feel good about supporting. They make an effort to only work with cruelty-free third party vendors, and while not all their products are vegan at this point, they are striving to make them so. Here's a lengthy list of their vegan goodies, including their vegan brush line which is pretty great.

Another cult-favourite that follows a cruelty-free ethos, Kat von D decided to take their entire range vegan after receiving positive feedback from their fans. And while they're making the transition, here's a list of their now-vegan products to choose from.

If you're looking to find even more cruelty-free companies that you can feel good about supporting, PETA has a handy little database you can refer to... hop to it! (just a little bunny-saving humour for ya) xx
