Full disclosure: I've never had much interest in lips masks before. Facial sheet masks, sure, but lips? They just seemed sticky, unnecessary, and a great way to suck down some chemicals. Fast forward to present day, and I'm a total convert. Winter is always so hard on my lips, and this little treatment has helped lock in all that lost moisture and smooth out my lips like I never thought possible. And although I may have been right about that aforementioned chemical suckage (it tastes super gross if you're not careful), the tradeoff is infinitely worth it in my opinion... let's discuss.
Infused with various powerful ingredients, lip masks work to reveal younger, plumper-looking lips by deeply hydrating and soothing from the inside-out. I've been using Rodial's Dragon's Blood Lip Masks, which are a bio-cellulose version (my favourite) infused with hyaluronic acid and, as the name would suggest, dragon's blood extract. The former provides intense hydration, while the latter is an anti-inflammatory ingredient designed to soothe and protect the lips. This particular version also contains glycerin, a popular ingredient in lip masks that helps the skin's outer barrier retain moisture... basically, this trifecta is the dream team where lip treatments are concerned. Another option I've really enjoyed using is Sephora's Rose Lip Mask, which is a little more affordable, and I know The Face Shop has a great option as well, but if you're feeling slightly more spendy, I would definitely recommend Rodial.
If you're interested in trying these particular masks for yourself, you can easily grab them up online from verious places, or in-person at Shopper's Drug Mart if you're a fellow Canadian... happy hydrating!
