Exfoliation has become something of a preoccupation for me this summer, partly because my extremities are finally seeing the light of day (what a concept!) and partly because I'm feeling brave enough to actually give self-tanners a go this year... wild times. Since we all know the benefits of regularly sloughing off dead skin cells I won't belabour that point, but instead I'll just tell you that I recently discovered a Canadian brand that's doing face + body exfoliation right. So if you're into organic products that are produced right here in Canada, then this post is for you... Say hello to Joe!
JoeSCRUB is a vegan and cruelty-free line that's all-natural and offered in three variations: Coffee, matcha and charcoal. Each option boasts its own unique set of benefits for the skin, but after trying out all three for the past couple months, I honestly think you can't go wrong whichever one you choose... although I won't lie, I'm a slightly partial to the matcha. Apparently the way to my heart is through my nose.
The joeSCRUB Matcha is a detoxifying sugar scrub that's specially formulated for the face. It's packed with organic ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil, cane sugar, and of course, matcha powder to combat bacteria and inflammation while nourishing the skin and helping to promote cell turnover. And as previously mentioned, it smells amaaaaazing. I would totally recommend giving this one a try if you're looking to boost radiance and make your skin super soft this summer.
Next up, let's talk coffee. This particular scrub is can be used both on the face and the body, but as you can see above, I prefer to use it on the latter because it's quite coarse and smells intensely of, well, coffee. It's made of organic, free-trade grounds and cocoa to stimulate circulation, release toxins and tighten the skin, while the pink Himalayan salt and brown sugar its packed with helps to further exfoliate and prepare the skin to absorb all the oils fcontained in this scrub (we're talking coconut, grapeseed and almond oil here, people).
Last but certainly not least, the joeSCRUB Charcoal is another facial scrub that helps to refine the look of skin, using activated charcoal to draw out impurities and tighten the look of pores. This particular scrub is also amazing in terms of the host of natural, super-nourishing ingredients it's formulated with, including chamomile to reduce inflammation and irritation, and castor oil to restore hydration and promote cell growth... win, win, win.
If you're interested in trying out these products, I would definitely recommend picking up their 'Weekender' package that includes 50g bags of all three scrubs (and a slight discount for buying in bulk)... happy exfoliating! xx
