Easy Jewelled Sandals

Tuesday, April 14, 2015
I've spent my fair share of time perusing the many spring offerings this season with one very clear take away — jewelled sandals are, like, so hot right now. It all started when I spotted these Loeffler Randall puppies, and culminated in this Marni sighting, which could only mean one thing: if I wanted to get the look without breaking the bank, I would have to get my DIY on (sorry, but I'm not spending $580 on sandals). So one quick trip to Forever 21 and Michaels later, I was equipped with everything I needed to get the look for WAY less — we're talking $550 less.

SUPPLIES: SANDALS (MINE VIA FOREVER 21) | RHINESTONES | E-6000 GLUE
TIME: 20 MINUTES (NOT INCLUDING DRY TIME) | DIFFICULTY RATING: EASY
I was lucky enough to snag a few packs of pronged rhinestones recently at Michaels (they're usually sold separately), so the process took far less time than it normally would (seriously, if you can track down pre-assembled rhinestones, get them!). Start glueing each gem down one-by-one, starting with the largest somewhere near the centre of the shoe. Press down firmly for a couple minutes before moving on to the next stone. I found it really helpful to try the shoes on periodically throughout the process to see if I was liking how the configuration looked on... I would definitely recommend this step if you give this project a go!

Let the sandals dry overnight, and you're done — easy peasy!
My pal Ashley was good enough to model these bad boys for me to photograph (I was experiencing some adventures in blisters, so I figured it would be better this way), complete with her oh-so amazing shark tote that I'm now obsessed with — just, whoa. Are these two items a match made in heaven or what? Summer, we're ready for you. xx
