High Brow

The best eye brow products from The Face Shop and Benefit
My relationship with my brows has always been a tumultuous one. Looking back, they were always perfectly fine, but awkward, pre-teen Vickie saw something very different when she looked in the bathroom mirror. At the time, thin brows were the standard, so I went to town on mine the first chance I got. I still remember the look of horror on my mom's face when she saw her 12-year-old daughter emerge from the bathroom with brows plucked beyond recognition — I basically looked like Gwen Stefani in this pic, complete with the shit-eating grin. Fast forward 10+ years, and my eye brows never fully recovered. If only I could go back in time and pry those tweezers out of my impressionable little fingers... needless to say, brow pencils are now a part of my daily routine. I've been devoutly loyal to Hourglass' Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil for over a year, but I started to realize that the colour pay-off just wasn't there, and that my brows would fade halfway through the day... so not worth the hefty $39 price tag (why did it take so long for me to figure that out?!). But last week, my friend Kira changed my life when she introduced me to The Face Shop's Lovely Me:Ex Design My Eyebrow (in shade #2 Dark Brown). It's considerably less expensive, and honestly works a million times better than my Hourglass pencil ever hoped to — it stays put and looks great even after a super long day. Now I know it's only been a week, but holy grail status has definitely been achieved here (and if you don't believe me, I went out and bought two more pencils the other day as backups). Topped with a light coating of Benefit's Gimme Brow, and it's almost like the 90's never happened to my brows. xx

  1. We all have been there! When I was 8, I shaved half my right brow with a razor, you can imagine my parents' reaction!!!
The Maybelline Brow Satin Pencil is really good as well and the H&M Clear Brow gel, I'm using it for years now!
