Base Notes

Achieving a decent base (and I say decent because perfect is never going to happen), is something that's been on my mind a lot lately, and after quite a bit of trial and error this past month, I think I've come up with a system that works pretty well for me. I have combination skin that tends to get dry patches, and although I like to control shine, dewy, glowing skin is always something I aspire towards.
So after my regular skincare routine and sunscreen is absorbed by my skin, I start with a radiance-boosting primer from Laura Mercier before applying a mattifying foundation. For that, I've been really loving L'Oreal's Infallible Pro-Matte foundation because it's affordable and leaves a really nice finish, but use whatever works for you. From there, concealer is slathered under my eyes and on spots (I need it!), and everything is sealed into place with a translucent powder. I really like the HD one from Make Up For Ever because I find it sets everything in place and helps combat shine. Bronzer helps add some colour and dimension to my (super) pale skin, but the real star of the show is my highlighter — and if you follow me on Snapchat, this one should come as no surprise to you. Champagne Pop by Becca in collaboration with Youtube star Jaclyn Hill is A-MAZING and adds so much shine that I can't help but get giddy every time I use it. If you can track it down next time you visit Sephora, it's totally worth a swatch... so. dang. good. xx
