If you've followed this blog for a while now, you'll know that I'm hopelessly devoted to lipstick — and nine times out of ten, the redder it is, the better. I don't normally discriminate in terms of brand, but one thing is for sure — when it comes to lipstick, formula is everything. Mattes are what I typically gravitate towards, but sometimes a good matte can be a little drying on the lips... especially in the colder months. And I think we can all agree here that scaly, peeling lips caked with pigment isn't exactly the cutest look. So when Bite Beauty launched a limited edition collection of matte creme lipsticks for fall, I was all over them.
Bite makes one of my favourite lip shades of all time ('Zinfadel' is amazing any time of the year), so I was really curious to try this new range of Canadian maple matte cream lipsticks. And just as I had suspected, they smell of sweet maple syrup, which is something to keep in mind if sugary sweet scents are not your jam. Even so, these might be worth a try for the formula itself — it's creamy and smooth on the lips, but still gives a nice, demi-matte wash of pigment, which is pretty amazing. The colours are perfect for fall ('Warmed Maple' and 'Mulled Maple' are my personal favourites) and I love that they're created with natural and food-grade ingredients, and are free of parabens, sulfates and other nasties, which is probably a far cry from some of the other lipsticks in my collection... food for thought.
If you're interested in trying out this range, they will be available at Sephora until October, and retail for $28 a pop... happy shopping! xx
