Back To Basics

Aesop Resurrection Hand Balm | NUXE Reve de Miel lip balm | MAC "Please Me" lipstick
Working from home, I don't often have a reason to get gussied up during the day — after all, the postman is used to my dishevelled appearance, and my pets can't tell the difference anyway. This not only makes me relish days when I actually do leave the house and socialize, but it also makes me appreciate the basics that keep me hydrated and happy... because there's really nothing worse than dry hands and chapped lips. That's why my desk is always stocked with Aesop's Resurrection hand cream and NUXE's Reve de Miel lip balm, which are both serious holy grail items. If you haven't tried the hand cream, then you're straight up missing out. Or more accurately, your hands are. It just glides on and is instantly absorbed into the skin, leaving you with soft, completely grease-free hands that smell of mandarines — it's pretty special. Similarly, Reve de Miel is the perfect thick, matte lip balm that not only coats your lips and acts like a primer for all your matte lipsticks (seriously, it's a lip saver!), but it actually helps heal chapped lips instead of just masking the problem. I can't say enough good things about these two.

Not exactly a basic in the same way as the first two, but MAC's "Please Me" lipstick has fast become an everyday staple when I want to look a bit more put together but can't be bothered to go all the way with my makeup. It gives that "your lips but better" finish that we're all after, and it's just an all-around flattering shade. Sometimes it's the simplest things that can make the biggest impact, and these three are really doing it for me these days... I've also been playing around with some new skin care bits that I'm really loving, but more on that later — happy Friday! xx
