Make Your Own Hair Ties

Tuesday, February 17, 2015
You guys! A few weeks back I was cruising the aisles of Michaels when I spotted a package of brightly-coloured cording, and suddenly it hit me — for about six dollars, I could whip up an insane amount of hair ties for a fraction of the price in-store! And if you're anything like me (and my man-bun clad fiance), you know how quickly one can go through a package of hair ties. So why spring for a pricey (albeit super cute) package of hair ties at, say, Sephora when you can make your own and save that hard earned cash of yours? Exactly. So if you have five minutes and a pair of scissors, give this project a try!

SUPPLIES: RIBBON CORDING (MINE VIA MICHAELS) | SCISSORS
TIME: 5 MINUTES || DIFFICULTY RATING: EASY
Start by cutting your cording into strips about 5" in length. Double tie the edges of each strip together so the elastic fits comfortably around your wrist, then cut off any excess on a diagonal. Repeat this process as needed, and you'll have an endless supply of hair ties for practically pennies — cha ching!

  1. Such a great idea! At the rate I lose hairbands, it's not an affordable option to spend $10.95 a pack at Sephora.

  2. I can't believe how genius this is - these are the only hair ties I like wearing but I pay way too much for them and end up losing them!!
