The Fall Face

Much like the clothing, fall is my favourite season for makeup as well. The colours are deeper, the looks are vampier and — in my mind at least — the skin is always dewier. This is what I've been turning to lately for a more autumnal look, and I'm convinced that this lipstick might just be the most perfect (and affordable!) fall shade around... no joke. First up, the base.
After months of hearing about this stuff from various UK beauty bloggers, I finally got my hands on a bottle, and let me tell you, Bourjois' Healthy Mix Serum foundation is legit. It goes on nice and smooth, and leaves a natural-looking finish which I'm a big fan of. If you live in Canada, you can find this range at select Shopper's Drug Mart Beauty Boutique locations (I'm also really digging their nail polishes) for about $28. My bestie wasn't a fan, but I swear by this stuff... in fact, I haven't reached for my trusty Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation once since getting it! Also, did you know that Tweezerman has a range of brushes now as well? True story.

OK, now for the fun stuff — bring on those sweet, sweet berry tones! I tried this Rimmel's Lasting Finish lipstick (#107) on a whim, and it's turned out to be the greatest fall shades I've ever worn. It looks equally great lightly dabbed on the lips as it does fully applied, plus its formula is long-lasting and doesn't dry out my lips. Equally fun in the fall-makeup department is MAC's "Coppering" eyeshadow — it's just so pretty and easy to wear, and I love pairing it with a neutral lip just as much a strong one — oh the possibilities.
Finally, let's talk luminizing powders. I love dewy skin all year round, but I have a hard time adding  highlights to my skin in the summer when things tend to fall on the greasier side of the spectrum — you know what I'm saying. The Balm's Mary-Lou Manizer has fast become my go-to for adding a little shimmer to my cheeks, to the point where I'm not quite sure how I ever lived without it. Good. Stuff. xx
